In early 2007, we began an intensive search for a suitable location for Transition Technologies’ new office in Eastern Poland. The choice of a new location was determined by a comprehensive business analysis and intuition, which does not disappoint us. Also of tremendous support in choosing a location are the city authorities and the academic community. In this case, it was the Bialystok University of Technology, which offered great potential.
Bialystok – our place!
From the very beginning we received substantive support in establishing relations with external entities. However, not everyone recognized the investment potential in Podlasie at the time. The City Council drew our attention to the picturesque green areas, constituting more than 30% of Bialystok, as well as the nature reserves formed by the remnants of the Knyszyn Forest and fragments of the Narew National Park, which added to the attractiveness of the location. And it aroused in us a growing desire for environmental education in the remaining locations. Then we saw even more, and as a result, the Bialystok office became that unique choice and a hit.
A welcome with a surprise
Our first workplace was located at 19/21 Linden Street, and it was not without a surprise. During our first tour of the facility, our guide hesitantly pointed out the existing “Forecast” club on the basement level, asking whether it would be a nuisance. On the contrary, this detail only fueled our positive perception of the place. We signed a lease at the headquarters of the “Green Star” recording company, which specializes in disco polo music in Bialystok, where a dance pole appeared in the administrative room.
After finalizing the lease, we proceeded to clean up the office space and arrange it anew. So as to say goodbye to the ghosts of the past and give the place new life, in the embrace of technology. Together we chose wall colors – yellow and brown – and everyone was eager to bring in furniture. The scarcity of tools or household appliances did not discourage anyone. On the contrary, when something was missing, it was immediately organized in-house. And although we initially had only one wing, located on the left side on the third floor of a four-story building, everyone from the beginning tried very hard to make a warm, homely atmosphere prevail.
The spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm for building this space was evident from the very beginning, and has remained so to this day. In addition, some members of the team served a dual function alongside their design duties.
At that time, the 12-member team (SSC) consisted of five programmers and seven testers. We actively participated in the AREVA team, a French nuclear power company. At the same time, we launched our first public project, “Biocidal,” funded entirely by the European Union. Justyna Nowacka-Dzienis, the current chief operating officer of the Bialystok office, played a key role in leading this project and taking our first steps in the city.
We suddenly turned a hundred employees.
Before we knew it, we had grown our team to 100 employees by July 2013 . As we continued to grow, we quickly realized that we were beginning to run out of space.
Consequently, we made the decision to move. Thanks to our hard work, in February 2014 we moved to a newly renovated office building located at 82 Henryka Sienkiewicza St. As in 2008 in the office on Lipowa St., we once again worked together to create a unique and personal space, putting all our hearts into the project, even when we felt exhausted. As they say – such an effort is a joy, not a torment.
Filled to the brim with our belongings, we brought cartons to midnight. However, despite the physical exertion, the humor and joy that filled us did not diminish. The next day we assembled chairs and desks together, with everyone offering their help. The next day, along with more workers, we carried the chairs and desks in by the sweat of our brows. Again, no one whined, everyone offered their help. When we put in the furniture, the kitchen was filled to the brim with the next eager people, who put the freshly purchased dishes into our new cabinets.
At the Bialystok branch of TTSW, our dedicated team members are responsible for the creation, implementation and development of cutting-edge solutions aimed primarily at the power and gas industries. In addition, some members of the team collaborate on ongoing projects with other TT Group companies, providing services to both domestic and foreign customers, while tailoring our offerings to specific project requirements.
Despite our different interests, personalities, technologies and positions, we share strong interpersonal relationships and a common passion for our work.
